Make a Difference ....Impact a Life
There are many ways to donate and volunteer with Friends of Advantage
In Kind donations of toiletries, coats, hats, gloves, and blankets are most helpful to our Homeless Day Service Center as they reach out to meet the basic needs for every day survival but particularly during the cold winter months.
*Furniture and household items are an ongoing need in our residential programs. Kitchen wares, dining room tables, chest of drawers, etc.
*Art Donations and Waiting Room furniture are being sought to enhance our waiting rooms to a warm and welcoming environment for those we serve.
*Bicycle donations provide some of our clients with a sole method of transportation.
*Monetary sponsors and/or donors help us meet unfunded needs not provided by government, insurance, or families.

Heath Hunt is going to embark on a journey in just a few weeks that many people dream about, but few get the opportunity to make a reality. He will be hiking the Appalachian Trail southbound from Maine to Georgia, starting on June 21 and will be on the trail consecutively for 5-6 months.
Mental health issues are an important topic and concern for Heath. He has battled with ADHD since a young age and has friends and family who suffer from other mental illnesses. Heath would like to spread awareness about the assistance available through organizations like Friends of Advantage, as well as share the funds raised through this campaign. A GoFundMe campaign has been activated to assist Heath with expenses along the trail including food, water, equipment, etc. On average, expenses average around $2 per mile and the hike is 2200 miles. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Friends of Advantage (FOA). Read more about FOA on their website - http://www.friendsofadvantage.org/ .
Heath writes, "I will be beginning my journey in Maine, going southbound on June 21st. Starting southbound is a challenge in itself. On Day 1 you summit Mount Katahdin, which is a mile high mountain, then shortly after you enter the 100 mile wilderness. I am covering the two hardest states on the AT first, and continuing the 2100+ mile journey to my home state of Georgia. I will pass through 14 different states, calculating over 5 million steps and climbing an elevation that is equivalent to ascending Mount Everest 16 times. Looking for a challenge I think I found one. So follow along as I hike the Appalachian trail. You can follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter at Heath Hikes (@Heathhikes)."
The campaign is now live. No donation is too small!
*Mental Illness Awareness Week-October 1-7, 2017-Local restaurants are being asked to partner with FOA to help with the mission of bringing about awareness with mental illness facts and information sharing in their businesses. We ask that you patronize these locations as they choose to give back a portion of their proceeds to FOA during this specified week. Churches are asked to adopt Friends of Advantage as local missions to help educate and bridge gaps for individuals in need that are not covered by government, insurance, or grant proceeds. Awareness saves lives...take time to learn and share.
